ECGC is managed by a board of directors comprising representatives from the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and the private sector. ECGC accepts commercial and political risks and underwrites bonds and guarantees for its own account and reinsures a portion of these with professional reinsurers.

History
ECGC is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Mutapa Investment Fund (MIF) which is Zimbabwe Sovereign Wealth Fund. It was incorporated in 1999 under the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and commenced operations in 2000.
