Distance Learning for Export Credit and Investment Insurance

Offenburg University's Postgraduate Certificate in Finance, Risk and Insurance (PG Cert, equivalent to 30 ECTS Credits*) is a specialist programme preparing graduates and business professionals for a wide range of careers in export finance, risk and trade credit insurance. It provides a unique combination of the latest academic research and practical applications. The course is designed and delivered by a faculty of leading academics and industry practitioners.

Berne Union Scholarship

The Berne Union is pleased to offer a fee-scholarship for a talented professional to undertake the Postgraduate Certificate in Finance, Risk and Insurance from Offenburg University.

The scholarship is open to employees of all Berne Union Members. The scholarship will cover full course fees on behalf of the awarded scholars, but any additional costs of study or travel associated with completion of the studies will be the responsibility of individuals.

To be eligible for award applicants must:

  • Satisfy the general eligibility requirements for course participation defined by the course provider, as detailed here
  • Be a current employee of a Berne Union member 
  • Have the endorsement of their employer for the application, with a maximum of 1 endorsed applicant per member for each course intake

Scholarship Application Process

Award of the scholarship will be via an essay competition, with the winning application selected by a jury composed of Berne Union President, Secretary General and Chairs or Vice Chairs of the ST, MLT, INV and Prague Club Committees and two persons from the Offenburg University.
The title of the essay should be: ‘What will the Export Credit Insurance business look like in 2030?’. The specifications are:

Submissions should be in English. Sufficient command of English is required, but native speaker fluency is not a requirement

  • Approximately 2000 words in length (+/- 15%), 1.5 spaced
  • All citations should be properly referenced
  • The text from essay submissions may be published in the Berne Union’s ‘BUlletin’ newsletter and Yearbook, and by entering you consent to this use 

Essay submissions should be sent to the Berne Union Secretariat: bu-sec@berneunion.org, along with a short cover letter outlining why you would like to be considered for the scholarship (no longer than 1 page) and a professional CV.
