3 New Members Join the Berne Union
The Berne Union is delighted to announce that three new members have joined the association as of January 2018, taking the total number of members to 85.
The new members will all join the Prague Club Committee as Observers, with the possibility to extend to full-voting membership after participation in 4 General Meetings.
The new members are:
Banco Nacional de las Exportaciones (BANDEX), the newly mandated ECA of the Dominican Republic
BANDEX was created in 2015 as a mixed equity financial institution with 96% of shares owned by the Dominican government, through the Ministry of Finance and having the collateral and unlimited guarantee of the Dominican State.
Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) of Zimbabwe, the ECA of Zimbabwe
ECGC Z is a private company, constituted in 1999 and 100% owned by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. ECGCZ was a member of the Prague Club up to 2007, but resigned by mutual consent due to difficulty effecting membership fees as a consequence of sanctions against Zimbabwe.
International Enterprise (IE), ECA of Singapore
IE Singapore is a Statutory Board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry of the Singapore Government. Established in 1983 and having issued its first export credit insurance policy in 2006, they have recently become the official ECA of Singapore. In addition, by virtue being the official ECA, IE Singapore are also entrusted with other export promotion activities by the Singapore Government.
