Join us at FFD4, Seville for discussion around how guarantees and insurance can support sustainable investment

The Berne Union will participate in the upcoming UN Finance for Development Conference (FFD4) taking place from 30 June - 3rd July, in Seville, Spain
Taking place on 1st July, the BU has partnered with UNCTAD and the ICC to co-organise a side event on enhancing de-risking mechanisms for sustainable investment.
Building on findings from a recent UNCTAD report on the role of political risk insurance in de-risking FDI, discussions will explore how providers of guarantees and insurance can support the mobilisation of private sector finance towards the SDGs and how we can leverage this in the wider context of risk sharing to grow investment in EMDEs.
The BU President and Secretary General will be joined by a high-level panel of contributors including:
- H.E. Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation, Egypt
- Ms. María Amparo López Senovilla, Secretary of State for Trade, Spain
- The Secretary Generals of UNCTAD (Ms. Rebecca Grynspan), ICC (Mr. John Denton) and FiCS (Mr. Adama Mariko)
- Senior executives bilateral and multilateral development institutions, export credit agencies and private sector financial institutions
The goal of the dialogue is to increase awareness and understanding of de-risking instruments and encourage and innovative approaches to maximising flows of private finance into EMDEs.
To our partners and stakeholders attending the conference:
Please join us for the side meeting and evening reception on 1st July and reach out to organise a meeting with the BU President, Yuichiro Akita and Secretary General, Paul Heaney.
